Six Month Baby Boy Pictures (With a Special Cameo or Two from Mom)
Six month baby boy pictures… fall clothes (and a fall-in-love-with-me squishy face).
And there’s always Mom, hovering close by. I like to grab these memories for them.

Why should you have senior pictures taken?
You deserve it!
It’s fun!
You will use these pictures more than you think. Announcements, grad slideshows, social media, applications, resumes, even LinkedIn. Calotype will make sure to cover all the requirements so you get the most use from these senior photos.
You are interesting- whether you think it or not. Getting your face, your bone structure, your eyes, etc. into the right lighting can make a world of difference in how you see yourself.
Look over these senior pictures in Springfield. (I can shoot in any location, not everything needs to be in our studio). These were taken on a fall afternoon, just walking around downtown. What would you like to do for your senior photoshoot?
What do most guys in Joplin do for senior pictures? In my 16 years of experience, there’s been a pattern:
Mom calls and books the Session. Has a few ideas but ends the conversation with “….but I’ll be lucky to get him there.”
On the day of the senior photoshoot, life is busy and it’s true- mom just barely gets him to show up. His clothes might be mildly wrinkled, he might need a haircut, and he’s mostly dreading it.
We start shooting. I have many ideas and my brain does not stop. I take what the senior gives me and run with it. I have a plan already designed, based on talking to the mom earlier. Because I have two sons, I know boys need directions clearly and concisely. They listen, they understand, and we move fast. They’re smart, and they can tell right away they’re going to look good in these photos and we’re not doing anything cringy.
All done. Senior leaves feeling like they’ve accomplished something, and Mom can’t wait to come back and see the results. 9 times out of 10, as they leave the senior says, “I really liked that.”
So if you’re looking for ideas for a senior boy Portrait Session, here’s a recent one photographed entirely on location in Springfield. This one featured a recommended upgrade- photographing another senior friend at the same time!
Not only does the second senior get a special price on their session fee, but it’s fun! Senior boys tend to be pretty serious; but when your friend is lurking around while you’re being photographed, it’s hard to be serious the entire time. Moms, call a friend who also has a graduate, and let’s book the photoshoots together! You can both cross something off your list, and we can even stop for snacks on the way- keep scrolling. ;)
I have hundreds of outtakes, taken over the years, of moms fixing hair. It’s the mom thing to do.
Getting set up in a parking garage for the car shoot. Cars = important
Keeping it real with a water bottle and plastic cup in background. (Those will be retouched out for the printed image in Mom’s album).
Don’t be hangry in senior photos.
Snacky senior pics
Real life
Like I said above, these boys are friends and their moms are friends, so we thought it would be fun to book their senior pictures at the same time. I recommend this. Not only was it fun for all of us, but I caught many genuine expressions. It’s hard to be serious when friends (who really know you) are involved.

Every year, Calotype offers The School Picture Event. It’s for people who love yearly school pictures of their children, but wish they weren’t so bland and boring and Lifetouch-y. Annually in August, I open the studio for two days of personal, one-of-a-kind school pictures where clients get to watch the process and view their images right away.
Click through to see a variety of kids we photographed (not all kids are featured at the parents’ request for privacy).
No matter your sports team preference, you must admit this a cute little cowboy. :)
